We really appreciated the flexibility to personalise so many aspects of the wedding, from choosing our own menu to creating a timeline that allowed us to include everything that was important to us.

The planning behind the scenes was incredibly organised, with every detail carefully considered. Jo was a pleasure to work with throughout the process - always communicative, responsive, and happy to answer any questions we had.

On the day itself, the service was exceptional. The whole team looked after us so well, allowing us to relax and enjoy every moment knowing everything was in safe hands.

The food was outstanding, with several guests telling us it was the best wedding food they had ever experienced. The venue itself is beautiful, and the spacious rooms provided the perfect setting for getting ready before the ceremony.

"From the moment I met Jo and the team I felt so at ease and we fell in love with the venue. It’s so beautifully decorated! Jo worked with us to create our perfect day in our budget. She was in regular contact, so organised and made the whole process stress free. She took charge of communicating with our suppliers so we didn’t have to stress about timelines.

Over time we met Emma, Matt and the rest of the team who made us feel so welcome every time we went for meetings.

Our day went so smoothly. Jo kept me relaxed as I was getting ready and the set up was amazing. The timing was perfect every member of staff worked like clock work and were so prepared for every aspect of the day. The food!!! The food is incredible and every single one of our guests said how amazing it was and there was empty plates for all our guests.

I could go on and on about how amazing this place is. From the decor, to the food, to the rooms and to the staff. From the bottom of our hearts thank you so much for making our day so special."

A Special Day We Will Cherish

"The Merchant's Yard were everything we could want and more from a wedding venue, we hired all of the venue to include ceremony and meals, our day was everything we wanted throughout.

Jo and the team provided consistent and helpful support in the planning stages, they were so welcoming and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble to tailor our day to what we had imagined, the staff were kind and accommodating and made sure our day ran smoothly.

The venue is beautiful and created such a lovely relaxed atmosphere for us and our guests. There were pockets of different spaces to ensure all of those who attended were comfortable. The food was incredible, to such a high standard and loved by all our guests. The setting in Tideswell is peaceful and picturesque, creating lovely wedding photos to look back on. The rooms provided a luxury space to get ready in, and allowed our close family to stay with us.

"We hired the top-floor private room for our wedding after falling in love with The Merchant's Yard on our first weekend away together years before.

The staff are brilliant and the place is just beautiful, with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble and our day was perfect.

"We cannot recommend The Merchant's Yard highly enough. They hosted our wedding, including the ceremony and meals, and everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish.

We had a very intimate private ceremony with just seven guests, and from the moment we arrived we were treated like absolute royalty. The team's attention to detail, warmth, and professionalism were exceptional. Nothing felt too much trouble, and every aspect of the day was handled with genuine care and pride.

A special mention has to go to Jennifer, who mainly dealt with us throughout the planning and on the day itself. We genuinely cannot sing her praises enough. She was incredible from start to finish: calm, kind, attentive, and so organised. Jennifer made the entire process stress free and ensured everything ran seamlessly, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy our day.

The setting was beautiful, the food was outstanding, and the service was simply flawless. Our guests were blown away by how personal and special the experience felt, and we were able to enjoy every moment knowing we were in such capable hands.

Fantastic Venue - Perfect Day!

"From our first contact with them, Jo and the team at The Merchant's Yard were amazing. The venue is beautiful and having such stunning bedrooms on site is a huge bonus, not to mention the incredible food. Nothing was too difficult for the staff and they helped to make our wedding day absolute perfection.

Jo and the team worked to our budget. There are different options on spaces within the venue to get married and a range of food menus. Because this is a restaurant, the food is exceptional. Everyone who attended our wedding said they thought the venue was perfect.

We used the downstairs restaurant for our ceremony and the upstairs dining room for the meal afterwards. In the evening we moved the tables and made enough space to play music and dance, while the middle floor was then used for the people to play games and chat.

The staff worked with us every step of the way and were in regular contact throughout the process. On the actual day the staff were so professional, helpful and friendly. They helped with decorations around the venue and meeting our cake lady so that we could concentrate on greeting family and getting ready. The day went without a hitch.

We were bringing together a number of family from different locations, so having a venue that allowed us all to get there, get ready and just enjoy the day was ideal."

Amazing Venue with Lots of Flexibility

"The venue was just perfect for us and Jo and the team worked with us to flex it to meet our needs.

The space was turned from a sit down reception to accommodate our band and a dance floor and there was still loads of room to sit, including quiet areas. We had 80 guests plus a further 25 at night and we didn't even use the second floor. The food was great and the drinks were reasonably priced. We had the whole venue including the accommodation and had a lovely breakfast with those staying over on the top floor.

Great service made this a great venue to have our wedding and many of our guests said it was the best they had ever been to."

Amazing Day

"From the moment we went to look, we knew it was going to be amazing. Jo and the team are fantastic. Jo is the most organised person ever. We never had to worry about a thing. We had a planner sheet that was updated after each meeting. The attention to detail was incredible. Jo had it organised to the minute. The whole day ran so smoothly, we didn't have to think of a thing.

The waiting staff were so good, so smiley and happy. Jo had them organised for each table so everyone got their choice of meals so quick. The food... insane. We got to go for a taster menu and we chose 3 dishes for each course. It was a tough choice. The chef and team are so talented. The food was the talk of the wedding. The bar staff were amazing and were so cheerful and hard working.

Family stayed the night before and the night of the wedding which made it so relaxed. The rooms are beautiful.

It was the best day ever and I can't tell you how many people said it was the best wedding they had been to. You will not be disappointed."
