Accessibility at The Merchant's Yard
At The Merchant’s Yard, we are committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible experience for all our guests, from start to finish of their journey with us.
Venue Accessibility
Our restaurant is accessible via a step-free route from the front pavement (ramped access), with wide walkways and corridors to ensure ease of movement and manoeuvring.
Our downstairs dining room is laid out to ensure plenty of space between tables and our soft-seating areas have a range of different height seating options as well as plenty of space for wheelchairs.
We have ground floor accessible toilet facilities with step-free access, grab rails, easy turn locks and taps and wide doors allowing entry for both manual and power wheelchairs. There are also hygiene waste disposal bins and a 'red cord' alarm system.
Although dogs are not permitted in the restaurant, service and assistance dogs are of course welcome, we just ask that they remain on-lead for the duration of your visit.
Guests with mobility challenges are welcome to park along the front of the building for the shortest access route to the restaurant. We do have a car park (to the right as you drive past the front of the building) which you are also welcome to use subject to space being available.
We understand that everyone's access needs are different and we will always work to accommodate wherever possible to ensure your visit is as comfortable, seamless and enjoyable as possible. Our friendly and welcoming team is available ahead of your visit and we recommend contacting us in advance to discuss any specific needs you may have.
Rooms Accessibility
Our rooms are accessible via step-free routes (the most direct route being ramped access and a short walk through the restaurant), with wide walkways and corridors to ensure ease of movement or manoeuvring.
Our accessible room has a large walk in wet-room style shower with grab rails in the shower and by the toilet, lower level storage, as well as the option of a mobile toilet surround frame with seat should it be required.
We can adapt the layout of our room to facilitate different seating set-ups, or the lounge chairs can be removed completely to give more space.
We understand that everyone's access needs are different and we will always work to accommodate wherever possible to ensure your visit is as comfortable, seamless and enjoyable as possible. We are happy to provide measurements (door frames, turning circles, step depth where applicable etc.) ahead of your stay to facilitate planning and assessment of suitability. Our friendly and welcoming team is available ahead of your visit and we recommend contacting us in advance to discuss any specific needs you may have.
Service dogs are welcome to stay with their owners in Superior Room 5. Please note that they must not be left unattended at any time during your stay.
To help us make the necessary arrangements, please inform us at the time of booking so we can ensure the correct room allocation, as some of our bedrooms are kept strictly pet-free for guests with allergies.
For enquiries about service dogs or to make a booking, please contact our team directly.
